This temple was established by Kaigen-in to enshrine her mother Kenjuin. The priest Toyama was invited to do the enshrinement in 1651 (Keian 4). Kaigen-in was the wife of Yokoyama Shikibu Nagaharu , a retainer of the Kaga clan. Kenju-in was the granddaughter of the 1st Lord of Maeda. After years of no priests or monks, this temple was reestablished as a Rinzai school temple by inviting the priest from Myoshinji Temple at the end of Genroku Period (1688~1704).
