During Tensho (1573~92), Okumura Nagatomi, key retainer of the Maeda clan established this temple after been given this property by Lord Maeda. Nagatomi served Toshihisa, elder brother of Toshiie. After Toshiie succeeded the Maeda clan, Nagatomi served him. The fact that Nagatomi, as commander, desperately defended Suemori Castle in Noto during the attack by Sassa Narimasa in 1585 (Tensho 12) is well-known.
