Originally it was a shrine of Ishiurago Nanason , located in the back of Ishiuramachi Town (current Korinbo). Later it was burned down during a battle and relocated to the suburban residence of the Honda family, then an ancestral hall was constructed. Under the order of the separation of Shinto from Buddhism, the shrine lost the title of Sanno Jishu Gongen and was renamed Ishiura Jinja Shrine. Tsunanori, the 5th Lord of Maeda, is said to have prayed for the safe birth of his children here.
