This temple was established by Akaza Nagaaki , a feudal lord of Echizen in 1492 (Meio 1) to enshrine his parents. In 1649 (Keian 2), the property of the temple was given by the 3rd Lord of Maeda. This is also the family temple of the Ema Family, a family doctor of Maeda. It also has the grave of Yoshida Choshuku, a pioneer of Western medicine.
