Taisugawara Jinja Shrine

An ancestor of the Tanabe Family enshrined the self-portrait of Sugawara Michizane given by himself at Domyoji Temple. The ancestor stayed in Kanazawa after the Ikko-shu uprising, and was assigned to Hitto Tomura Yaku during the Edo Period. In 1880 (Meiji 13), a shrine was constructed in its precinct. At the beginning of the New Year, two layers of big round rice cakes are dedicated to Hitto Tomura. It has a stone tablet with a haiku of Basho inscribed on it.
