Constructed by Yokoyama Yamashironokami Nagachika in 1599 (Keicho 4 ), this temple was opened by a monk, Yuzan sensyuku who was invited from Hikamigun, Tanba. Nagataka, father of Nagachika served to Toshiie, the 1st Lord of Maeda when he ruled Fuchu (current Fukui Prefecture). Shozan is Nagataka’s posthumous name.
